Five stable incline settings and a wide platform make calf stretching easy to progress.
Five incline settings, from 15 to 35 degrees, are the reason the StrongTek earns our top spot. We could start shallow on tight calves and move up as the stretch loosened, which is the sort of progression a fixed curb or step cannot give you. The side handles help when you step on and off, and they make the board easier to shift from room to room. We also appreciated the wide 16 by 12.5-inch platform; it leaves room to adjust foot position rather than cramming your heel into one spot.
The board is built from Lauan hardwood plywood and weighs 8.97 pounds. That weight is reassuring when you stand on it, and the non-slip surface gave us a secure footing during longer holds. It is not the board to toss in a gym bag, though; it belongs near a couch, desk, or bathroom where you will actually use it. The five settings are easy to see and reset, so switching between a gentle calf stretch and a steeper hamstring-focused position does not turn into a project.
What it does not do is stretch hips or train front splits. That is not a flaw so much as a boundary: this is a standing calf and lower-leg tool, and the angle does most of the work. If your tightness sits in the hamstrings and hips, the IdealStretch is the more direct choice in this group. For calves, ankles, and the back line of the leg, the StrongTek is the most complete package here.
After using it alongside the lighter boards, we kept coming back to the StrongTek for the stability. The wooden platform does not flex or slide, and the handles make a small but real difference when you are balancing on one foot. It is the one we point to first for a home stretching station.
Bottom Line
The StrongTek is the one we reach for first for home calf and hamstring work: five stable inclines, a wide platform, and enough wood underfoot to feel secure.
What We Like
- Five stable incline settings from 15° to 35°
- Wide 16 x 12.5-inch platform steadies the foot
- Side handles make moving and balancing easier
Worth Noting
- At 8.97 pounds, it is not a travel piece
- Does not target hips or splits like a strap
