Master Lock 141D Keyed Lock
- Keys Two included
- Shackle 1/4 in. diameter, 7/8 in. length, 13/16 in. width
- Lock Type Keyed
- Body Width 1-9/16 in.
Two keys and a compact body make this the easy keyed choice.
A keyed lock is only as good as the key you can find when you are late for a class, and the Master Lock 141D gives you two. The 1-9/16-inch body is compact enough for a tight locker hasp, the vinyl cover protects both the lock and the locker's paint, and the hardened steel shackle is the same basic cut-resistant shape you see on most school locks.
We liked the keyed format for the gym because it is faster than a dial when your hands are cold or sweaty. One turn and the shackle pops; there is no code to line up under a dim light. The two keys have matching color heads, a small detail that helps when you are digging through a bag. This is general locker security, not a high-security padlock, and a lost key is the obvious risk; we kept the spare in a wallet rather than on the same ring.
The compact body is the reason to choose it over the larger 653D if your locker has a narrow hasp or you want the lock to sit flush. It does not have the four-digit flexibility of a combination, and if you are the person who loses keys, the Puroma two-pack's three keys are a more forgiving setup. What we keep noticing is the vinyl cover: it takes the scrape against a metal hasp so the locker finish does not.
Bottom Line
Buy the 141D if you want keyed entry without bulk: two keys, a compact body for tight hasps, and a scratch-resistant cover for daily locker use.
