XMark XM-4441 Speed Bag Platform
- Item Weight 53 lb
- Height Adjustment 15 inches
- Platform Diameter 24 inches
- Platform Thickness 1 1/2-inch hardwood
Widest height range here and a stiff hardwood drum, upgrade the swivel and you are set.
Fifteen inches is the number that separates this platform from the rest. Most of the drums here give you eight inches of height in two-inch steps; the XMark XM-4441 slides through 15, which is enough to hang it for a six-foot adult and then drop it three or four levels for a twelve-year-old without touching the wall. If more than one person is going to use the bag, that range is the feature that matters most.
The build backs the range up. Under the 24-inch drum sits an inch and a half of hardwood on a steel frame, and the assembly runs about 53 pounds, heavy enough that it reads as gym equipment rather than a kit you bolt together once and hope for. This is the platform we recommend to most people putting a speed bag in a home gym, and the reason is straightforward: it does the job of the expensive drums while leaving room in the budget for a decent bag.
Installation is a two-person job. You are holding 53 pounds over your head while somebody drives the lag bolts, and the board is awkward enough that one person should not try. The swivel is the weak link in the kit. Fit a good ball-bearing swivel before you hang the bag; it costs very little next to the platform and it changes how the drum feels on every rebound.
Bottom Line
The platform we recommend for most home gyms: the widest height range here, a genuinely stiff hardwood drum, and only the swivel needing an upgrade.
