Ices the front and back of the knee and stays on while you move.
A knee is an awkward shape for cold therapy. It bends, it narrows behind the joint, and a pack balanced on top slides off the moment you straighten your leg. The Vive answers that with a brace rather than a pouch: three flat gel packs slot into a neoprene wrap that closes with four hook-and-loop straps and covers the front and back of the knee at once. Of the knee-specific wraps here, this is the one we recommend first, because covering both sides of the joint is the thing a plain gel pack simply cannot do.
The straps are what make it work. Four of them let you set tension above and below the knee separately, so the wrap stays where you put it when you stand up or walk to the kitchen instead of sliding down your calf. Three gel packs keep a rotation going, one on the knee, one refreezing, one clean, which is the difference between icing twice and icing properly. The neoprene is machine washable, and after a week of sessions against bare skin you will be glad of that.
Two things to weigh. It costs more than the budget wraps here, and loaded with a pack it is bulky enough that you will not forget it is on. Check your measurement too: the stated fit tops out at a 21-inch knee circumference, so a large leg needs measuring with the knee straight before you order. Neither point bothers us much for post-surgical icing, where coverage and staying put matter more than a low profile.
Bottom Line
The one we hand people recovering from knee surgery or a ligament injury: it ices the front and back of the joint at once and stays there while you move.
